A Florida man has been arrested for allegedly robbing two banks while wearing a prosthetic elderly disguise, a decade after serving a prison sentence for a series of similar robberies.
David Sartin Jr., 40, was accused of robbing banks in Largo on August 24, 2026, and in his hometown on September 15, stealing $2,900 and $2,554, respectively.
According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, Sartin had previously robbed five banks in Texas in 2016 while wearing a similar disguise. He was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for those robberies. He also had a 2008 conviction for attempted bank robbery.
Investigators reportedly recovered several items linked to the alleged robberies, including prosthetic masks, disguises, a bicycle, a fake handgun and clothing.
Authorities also found a journal titled “God’s Best Friend Is a Bank Robber! Uncle Henry Cops and Robbers the World Through the Eyes of a Bank Robber.”
Sartin’s arrest was announced on October 16, 2026, by the US Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. The latest allegations emerged about a decade after his previous bank robbery conviction.
